Train Heroic FAQ

Alexander Training Online uses Train Heroic

What is Train Heroic?

TrainHeroic is an app that is everything you need for a good workout program. It gives you your specifics, including sets, reps, weight you lifted, and exercise demonstrations with in-app video and text explanations.

My clients and I love it! Check it this case study of a client’s results through Train Heroic.

How do I sign up for TrainHeroic?

You can download TrainHeroic from the app store now! If you are working without a trainer, you can add your own training sessions. If you want to work with me, then you’ll see the programs I put for you in there, and you track them as you go.

Is Train Heroic free?

The app is free. It is included with any 1:1 training at Alexander Training. If you choose to join a team, program or do customized training, there will be a fee for that service.

What is the difference between a team and a program?

A program goes for a certain length, such as a 12 week training plan. You can start this anytime you are ready. A team always has programming happening, so you can join in anytime.

How do I change a workout day?

If there is a workout published on Monday that you want to do on Tuesday, you go to the program (on Monday on the calendar). Begin it like normal, and it will ask if you would like to move it to today. Say yes, and it will move your session to the current day.

How do I log sets and reps?

Your program will tell you the sets and reps, so most times you simply enter the weight you completed the exercise. If you change the sets or reps, you enter your numbers that you did. If you need to add a set, which happens frequently, you click the “+” symbol to add a set.

Which team is best for me?

The Garage Squad will use barbells and the big lifts. It is the most advanced of my programs, but it is intermediate. If you would like to do it and have questions, let me know! You can!

The Home Team is for people who will work out at home, and unlike the other programs, includes lifting and cardio. Square 1 is a beginner program that also utilizes a full gym.

Any Gym USA is a program that is written to work for nearly any gym you come across. It doesn’t require specialty equipment or make you find substitutions. This works great for people who travel and pop into local or chain gyms.

Finally, Square 1 is near and dear to my heart. At my best rate, $15, it is a gentle introduction to the gym for those who are brand new. It’ll teach the basics both of the workout, and learning the gym. If you’re scared to start, this is the one!

If you would like a program written customized to your goals, or if you have more questions about which is a fit for you, message me at this contact page.

How do I warm up?

The general rule is to do a dynamic warm-up first, and stretch after your training session. You can add in some easy movement such as walking or jogging, and light stretching, if that feels good to you.

When you are starting an exercise, start light. See how the set goes. Increase the weight a little bit. Do it again. Once you have reached a weight that is work, you’ll do the recommended number of sets there.

For example, if I am benching work sets of about 135, I will bench 45 for 5 – 8 reps. Then I will bench 85 pounds for 5 reps. Then I will do 115 for 3-5 reps. From there, I’ll do my work sets. As you go, you’ll become more familiar with your weight abilities for each exercise.
